The Home Depot, Inc. shareholders on Thursday rejected a proposal calling on the company to report how its political spending lines up with its publicly stated values or policies.
The proposal, filed by the Tara Health Foundation, said Home Depot should establish policies and reporting systems to minimize risk its political spending might pose to the company’s reputation.
The proposal received 31% of the vote. Political spending proposals have secured steadyinvestor support at other annual meetings in recent weeks, for example at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Coca-Cola Co.
