Hudl, a video analytics platform for high school sports coaches, deliberately interfered with PlayOn’s exclusive licenses by launching a streaming service for consumers, according to a lawsuit filed over the rivalry.
PlayOn sued Hudl over the pivot Monday, saying its leaders know full well they’re trampling on rights agreements covering tens of thousands of sports events that PlayOn negotiated through its joint venture with high school athletics associations in nearly every state. PlayOn, which spun off from Turner Broadcasting System Inc. in 2008, spent years cultivating those relationships and $100 million building out the tech, the suit says.
