House Republicans are readying a slate of moves to push back on efforts launched during the Biden administration to bolster environmental, social and governance investing, two senior GOP lawmakers said on Wednesday.
“We want to be the defender of the retail investor,” said Andy Barr, a Kentucky Republican who chairs the House Financial Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy. Barr said in an interview that the panel is aiming to vote on a suite of ESG-related bills by July. He also plans to demand that administration officials testify about their approach to related regulations.
