General Mills Investors Reject Bid to Cut Plastic Packaging (1)

General Mills Inc. investors on Tuesday voted against an environmental proposal calling on the maker of Cheerios cereal and Betty Crocker baking mixes to scale back its plastic packaging use.

The plastics proposal, put forward by Green Century Capital Management, asked General Mills for a report disclosing metrics on plastic use and detailing efforts to employ more sustainable packaging. The bid secured approximately 40% of the preliminary vote at the meeting.
