The Federal Trade Commission updated its guidance urging companies to check their “Made in USA” labels and messaging amid a heightened enforcement push to protect consumers from misleading patriotic marketing.
The FTC has been ramping up enforcement of Made in USA claims since it was empowered three years ago to impose new financial penalties. The effort coincides with a broader Biden administration push to encourage US manufacturing, and also comes as American customers are willing to pay more for goods made closer to home.
