Former Securities and Exchange Commission chair Mary Jo White says she’s not in favor of quotas as a way to boost gender diversity in corporate boardrooms.
But quotas can “drive progress faster,” she said Nov. 2 at an event held by George Washington University’s law review.
“I am not philosophically or as a matter of policy in favor of quotas, but they are effective and bring about change more quickly,” White, who chaired the SEC for the last four years of the Obama administration, told Bloomberg Law in a follow-up email.
