Former Alstom, Marubeni Execs Hit With Foreign Bribery Charges

Two former executives of French power and transportation firm Alstom S.A. and a former executive of Japanese trader Marubeni Corp. are the latest to face charges in a longstanding U.S. investigation into both companies for alleged corrupt practices.

The Justice Department, in an indictment unsealed Tuesday in federal district court in Connecticut, alleges that Reza Moenaf and Eko Sulianto paid bribes to Indonesian officials in the early 2000s to help secure government contracts for Alstom’s subsidiary in the country.
