FirstEnergy Names Strah Permanent CEO in Wake of Bribery Scandal

FirstEnergy Corp. gave acting Chief Executive Officer Steve Strah the job permanently, four months after firing his predecessor in the wake of a federal corruption investigation.

Strah has been running the company since Charles Jones and two other senior executives were let go in October, according to a statement Monday.

Strah has been working to steer the Ohio-based utility clear of the scandal that linked the former employees to a bribery probe related to a controversial $1 billion state bailout for nuclear power plants owned by a former FirstEnergy unit.
