Exxon Investors Rebuff Bid for Disclosure on Plastics Market (1)

Exxon Mobil Corp. investors on Wednesday voted against a proposal asking the energy giant to take a closer look at its plans for plastics production amid calls to reduce plastic waste.

The proposal, submitted by United Church Funds, a religious investment group, asked the Houston-based company for a report on how a significant reduction in virgin plastic demand would impact its business, including data on its polymer production for single use plastic markets. The proposal received 21% of investor support.
