ESG DAILY: JPMorgan Takes Top Spot Among Green Bond Underwriters

JPMorgan Chase & Co. surpassed BNP Paribas to become the top underwriter of global green bonds, even as the value of deals fell in the first half of this year.

  • Sales of all types of green bonds have dropped 13%, to total $106.3 billion
  • Corporate and government issuers sold $91.4 billion of green bonds through June vs. $99.6 billion a year ago, data compiled by Bloomberg show
  • Credit Agricole was the largest arranger of global sustainability-linked loans in the same period and BNP Paribas was the leading arranger of global green loans
