Energy Department Adds Advanced Nuclear to Review Exclusions (1)

The Energy Department is planning to spare advanced nuclear reactors from extensive environmental review prescribed by the National Environmental Policy Act.

Advanced nuclear reactor projects qualify for a new categorical exclusion because they have shown in past NEPA reviews to operate in a way that protects the public, workers, and the environment, according to a Friday notice from the agency in the Federal Register.
