Energy Capital Partners Returns $5.5 Billion to Investors

Energy Capital Partners has returned more than $5.5 billion to investors in one of its best years since being founded two decades ago, according to people familiar with the private equity firm’s performance.

The Bridgepoint Group Plc-backed group, which is focused on energy transition, distributed the money to backers across all funds and co-investments, the people said. Bloomberg-compiled data show that 2025 has been ECP’s busiest year for exits.

ECP’s strong showing is thanks to big-ticket sales like those of power company Calpine Corp. to Constellation Energy Corp. for $26.6 billion and Liberty Tire Recycling to I Squared ...
