Edwards Beats ‘Premature’ $300 Million Suit on Valve Device Deal

Edwards Lifesciences Corp. defeated litigation in Delaware seeking roughly $300 million stemming from its acquisition of a heart valve device, although a judge said similar claims could potentially succeed at a later date.

Judge Meghan A. Adams dismissed the lawsuit by former Valtech Cardio Ltd. investors who said the larger biotech company duped them into deferring up to $350 million of the $690 million sale price when it bought Valtech solely to shelve its Cardioband, which competed with the blockbuster Pascal valve repair platform sold by Edwards.
