Congressional Republicans Demand SEC Climate Proposal Records

Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) and other leading Republican lawmakers have asked the SEC for cost analyses, legal guidance, and other documents the agency may have on its proposal to require corporate greenhouse gas emissions disclosures and other climate reporting.

The Republicans specifically are seeking any records about legal advice the Securities and Exchange Commission received about its authority to adopt climate disclosure rules, as well as any documents about the regulations’ effect on energy prices and information about any agency coordination with the White House and outside groups.
