Coca-Cola Faces New Investor Bid to Track and Reduce Food Waste

Shareholder advocates pressed Coca-Cola Co. to better measure and reduce food waste, in what they say would be a win for both the environment and the company’s bottom line.

A first-time proposal submitted by the Accountability Board in a letter to Coca-Cola Monday asks the company to publish a report identifying the types and quantities of its global food and beverage waste. The bid—viewed by Bloomberg Law—also asks Coca-Cola to establish measurable and timebound targets for waste reduction in all of its operations, but with particular attention to waste at Costa Coffee, which it acquired in 2019.
