Citi displaced Credit Agricole CIB and became one of the top three underwriters of global green bonds during the past month. Total issuance in the market rose 173% year-to-date compared with the same period last year.
- Issuers sold $199.5 billion of bonds through May vs. $73.2 billion a year ago, according to data compiled by Bloomberg League Tables
- Citi’s market share rose to 6.09%, overtaking Credit Agricole CIB, which captured 5.22%; JP Morgan remained the top manager with market share of 6.56%
- Federal Republic of Germany was the biggest issuer in May, at $7.3 billion
