Cintas Shareholders Nix Bid Seeking More Political Disclosures

Shareholders at workplace uniform and supplies company Cintas Corp. on Tuesday rejected a proposal seeking more insight into the company’s political spending.

The proposal, put forward by social justice-focused shareholder activists at the Nathan Cummings Foundation, asked Cintas to issue a report detailing its policies for making electoral contributions. The bid also asked Cintas to disclose monetary and non-monetary contributions to candidates and parties, as well as dues paid to trade associations.

“Without knowing the recipients of our company’s political dollars we cannot sufficiently assess whether our company’s election-related spending aligns with its policies and core values,” the proposal said. ...
