China’s Fosun Sues US Film Studio Over ‘Squandered’ $200 Million

Studio 8 Holdings LLC, a production company backed by Columbia Pictures and Shanghai-based Fosun International Ltd., appears to be nearing insolvency after blowing through the Chinese conglomerate’s $200 million investment, an unsealed lawsuit says.

Fosun affiliate Galaxy Entertainment LLC is suing Studio 8 for financial records, saying it has “persistently stonewalled” by evading requests for basic information while hemorrhaging funds since its 2014 founding by former Warner Bros. Pictures executive Jeff Robinov and other Hollywood veterans. The studio’s recent projects include the critically acclaimed 2024 horror remake “Nosferatu.”
