Cantor Fitzgerald LP affiliates, including billionaire chairman Howard Lutnick, lost their bid to head off a trial in Delaware of investor claims challenging the $875 million sale of a real estate lender from one company controlled by Lutnick to another.
Vice Chancellor Lori W. Will let the case move forward in Delaware’s Chancery Court against Lutnick, Cantor, its general partner entity, and one member of the BGC Partners Inc. committee that negotiated the deal to buy Berkeley Point Financial LLC from a Cantor affiliate. BGC spun off from Cantor in 2004.
