Canada Oil-Sands Carbon Capture Group Warns of Potential Delays

Canada’s oil-sands producers are making progress in negotiating government support for a C$24 billion ($18 billion) plan to slash the industry’s emissions, but are running out of time to meet key deadlines, according to the president of the group spearheading the effort.

The Pathways Alliance — which includes major Alberta oil-sands producers such as Suncor Energy Inc., Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and Cenovus Energy Inc. — seeks to cut emissions by 22 million metric tons by 2030, mostly by deploying C$16 billion of carbon capture and storage technology.
