Boston Bus Company to Pay $5.6 Million for Tailpipe Pollution

A Boston bus company has agreed to pay a $5.6 million penalty and add emission-reduction technology to its fleet as part of a settlement with an environmental group over excessive idling.

The Conservation Law Foundation filed the consent decree in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts on Monday after a judge found Academy Express LLC liable for violating the Clean Air Act following a bench trial earlier this year.
