Bloomingdale’s Faces Lawsuit Over Customer Web Surveillance

Bloomingdale’s, the high-end department store owned by Macy’s Inc., was sued in a proposed class action alleging that the retailer recorded customers browsing on its website and tracked their clicks and scrolls.

The lawsuit, brought by California resident Amanda Daghaly in the US District Court for the Southern District of California on Tuesday, alleges the company violated the Wiretap Act, the California Invasion of Privacy Act and other laws. The lawsuit is the latest in a string of website surveillance lawsuits against companies such as Zillow Group Inc., Lowe’s Companies Inc. and Michael’s Cos.
