Bipartisan Water Infrastructure Legislation Heads to House Floor

A House panel on Wednesday advanced legislation to study and carry out water resources projects across the country, a measure Congress reliably enacts every two years with bipartisan support.

  • The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee voted 61-2 to approve the Water Resources Development Act.
  • It would authorize nearly $10 billion for 12 projects in states such as New York, Louisiana, and Texas. The federal and nonfederal funding would be used for navigation, hurricane and storm damage risk reduction, flood control, and ecosystem restoration.
