BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R 845, Delisting Endangered Gray Wolf

December 15, 2025, 10:10 AM UTC

The US Fish and Wildlife Service would be required by H.R. 845 to remove the gray wolf from the endangered and threatened species list.

The gray wolf is currently listed as threatened in Minnesota and as endangered in 44 other states. It was previously delisted in the northern Rocky Mountains region.

The measure would require FWS, within 60 days of enactment, to reissue a November 2020 final rule that delisted the gray wolf, except for the Mexican wolf subspecies, in the states where it was protected. The rule couldn’t be challenged in court.
