American Airlines Group Inc. pilots have approved a strike authorization measure that would give their union leaders power to call a strike if authorized under federal labor law, according to an emailed statement.

  • 99% of pilots voted to approve the plan, the Allied Pilots Association said in a statement Monday
    • More than 96% of the APA membership voted
  • Aviators cannot walk off the job; taking such a vote is one step in the contract negotiation process spelled out in the Railway Labor Act, which governs airline-labor relations
