Amazon Fund Delivers Progress, Questions on Affordable Housing

When Amazon.com Inc. made a $2 billion entrance into the housing world in early 2021, there was hope that the company’s enormous resources and mastery of logistics could make a dent in the US affordable housing crisis.

Last week, Amazon offered an update on its progress. In an impact report, the tech giant announced a new $1.4 billion funding commitment for its Housing Equity Fund, which is now a $3.6 billion vehicle to provide low-interest loans and grants to enlarge the stock of affordable homes in three areas where Amazon operates: Nashville, Greater Seattle and the Washington, DC, metro. ...
