Amazon Fined $60,000 for Ergonomic Hazards at Fulfillment Center

Amazon.com Inc. faces a “willful serious violation” and a $60,000 fine for allegedly putting workers at risk of injury at its Kent, Wash. fulfillment center, according to a state Department of Labor & Industries press statement issued on Monday.

An L&I inspection found that 10 of the 12 processes evaluated it evaluated at the center created a serious hazard of work-related back, shoulder, wrist, and knee injuries, the department said, adding that workers are allegedly required to perform tasks at a pace that increases the risk of injury.
