Dish Preserves Win Over DVR Patent Owner in $469 Million Case

Dish Network LLC convinced the Federal Circuit that a $469 million patent infringement verdict against the satellite television company over a commercial-skipping feature for its Hopper DVR product was rightfully thrown out.

The appeals court rejected patent owner ClearPlay’s arguments that a district court judge in Utah’s order wiping out the verdict was invalid because it departed from interpretations of claims from both of the patents: US Patent Nos. 7,577,970 and 6,898,799.
