Youth Climate Brief Alleges Economic Discrimination on Appeal

A youth-led climate suit has reached the Ninth Circuit where the group argued federal agencies were implementing discriminatory economic practices.

The White House’s Office of Management and Budget and the Environmental Protection Agency’s challenged policies “facially and intentionally discriminate against children, violating their equal protection of the law on matters of life, health, safety, and economic wellbeing,” said the brief filed with the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Wednesday.

The 18-person group argued they’re “experiencing the grave consequences of growing up exposed to levels of climate pollution.”
