The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is issuing a final rule to clarify that shipments of limited quantities of hazardous material with the new “Y” marking are authorized for all forms of transportation, including air.
In addition, PHMSA has agreed to allow existing limited-quantity markings on shipments by all forms of transport other than air until Dec. 31, 2013, while air shipments of such quantities have until Dec. 31, 2012.
The original deadline was Jan. 1, 2012.
