A federally recognized tribal nation sued the US Army Corps of Engineers Tuesday for approving a 41-mile pipeline segment of Enbridge Energy LP’s Line 5 project, which would surround the Wisconsin reservation and allegedly harm wetlands and waterways.
The Corps failed to adequately review the project’s environmental effects and issued its approval in violation of the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, and Administrative Procedure Act, the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa said in its complaint filed with the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
