Wisconsin needs new groundwater quality enforcement standards for 16 so-called forever chemicals and six pesticides used at legacy industrial sites and active production facilities, state regulators said Friday.
The departments of Natural Resources; Health Services; and Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection recommended preventative-action limits and enforcement limits for the 22 chemicals after analyzing an initial list of 40 chemicals.
The Department of Natural Resources will now develop a rule that includes the limits, a process that could take up to 30 months to complete.
