Window Maker to Pay $300,000 to Settle Alleged Violations of Lead Paint Disclosure

A Detroit-area window manufacturer has agreed to spend $300,000 as part of a proposed settlement agreement arising from claims that it violated federal lead-based paint notification requirements, federal prosecutors said Aug. 22 (United States v. Hanson’s Window and Construction Inc.).

According to a proposed consent decree filed Aug. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Hanson’s Window and Construction Inc. will pay a $50,000 civil penalty to the Department of Justice to settle claims that it failed to notify consumers about residential lead-based paint hazards before performing renovation work in pre-1978 homes.
