Willie Phillips will become the first Black person to take the gavel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he will shape rules crucial to the electric grid and natural gas infrastructure, a White House official told Bloomberg Law Tuesday.
Phillips, who joined the commission about a year ago, will serve as acting chair of the commission until a permanent chair is nominated and confirmed, the White House official said.
