Companies working on cleanup at Oregon’s Portland Harbor Superfund site will get $24 million if they complete the design portion of the cleanup plan by the end of the year, the EPA announced May 10.
Portland Harbor is one of the most complex sites in the Superfund program, with cleanup costs estimated at more than $1 billion. The Environmental Protection Agency is giving incentives to companies to finish designing the cleanup this year by overseeing an agreement between the city of Portland and state of Oregon to provide $24 million in city and state money.
