Wildlife Groups Sue Army Corps Over Okefenokee WOTUS Settlement

Environmental groups on Tuesday challenged a Army Corps of Engineers decision to lift wetlands protections at a titanium mine site near Okefenokee Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia.

The Southern Environmental Law Center, representing the National Wildlife Refuge Association and three other environmental groups, filed the lawsuit in US District Court for the District of Columbia. They’re asking the court to toss out an August settlement between the Army Corps and Twin Pines Minerals LLC that the groups say threaten Okefenokee Swamp.
