Westinghouse Sues to Stop Korea Electric From Nuclear Transfer

Westinghouse Electric Co. has filed a US lawsuit to prevent the largest electric utility in South Korea from “unauthorized” sharing of nuclear technology with other countries, including Poland and Saudi Arabia.

Westinghouse holds the rights to technology licensed to Korea Electric Power Corp. and its Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power unit, which used the information to develop their own reactor designs, according to the lawsuit filed Friday. The Korean companies refused to provide assurances they would follow the US Atomic Energy Act, which regulates such transfers, Westinghouse said.
