West Virginia Supreme Court Will Look at Gas Royalty Lease Case

Oil and natural gas producer Antero Resources Corp. will get the West Virginia Supreme Court to answer two questions of state law, in a case where the company was sued for allegedly breaching royalties requirements for lease agreements.

The plaintiffs said they have ownership of oil and gas interests in West Virginia that are subject to leases where the lessees’ interest was assigned to Antero.

The plaintiffs sued the company on behalf of themselves and others, claiming Antero improperly deducted post-production costs and failed to pay royalties based on the price received at the point of sale.
