West Virginia Gas Lease Owners Gain Class Status in Antero Suit

West Virginia gas lease owners can proceed as a class on claims that Antero Resources Corp. breached its contract under the royalty provisions of two types of lease agreements by improperly deducting post-production costs and failing to pay royalties based on the price at the point-of-sale, a federal court in the state ruled.

The common questions of law in the case outweigh the differences in damages among class members, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia said in its opinion Monday.
