Water treatment company Wasco LLC dropped its claim that North Carolina regulators incorrectly assigned the company liability for a textile mill’s contaminants, after the EPA on Wednesday told a federal district court in Washington, D.C., it was a state matter.
Wasco asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to nullify a state waste management permit naming the company as the mill’s operator and “make the permit go away—even though operators like WASCO must have permits,” the Environmental Protection Agency said. The company voluntarily dismissed the case.
