Two Washington seafood companies agreed to obtain federal discharge permits under a settlement with a nonprofit that alleged the companies illegally released waste into Quilcene Bay.
Olympic Forest Coalition alleged in a lawsuit that Coast Seafoods Company and Pacific Shellfish - Quilcene LLC violated the Clean Water Act by discharging pollutants from their facilities without a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit.
According to the consent decree, both companies must promptly obtain a permit in exchange for dismissal of the case. The agreement is not an admission of liability, the consent decree said.
