The Energy Department wants to broaden efforts to bolster the energy sector’s cybersecurity defenses, shoring up the U.S. supply chain of power equipment to spot vulnerabilities more quickly amid rising concerns from Russia and China.
The department’s four-year-old cybersecurity office, with an 18% bump in funding approved by Congress this month, is stepping up coordination with other government agencies and the private sector, Puesh Kumar, director of the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, told Bloomberg Law.
