VW Pools Commercial Fleet With Ford to Avoid CO2 Fines in Europe

Volkswagen AG will pool its light commercial vehicle fleet with Ford Motor Co.’s to help comply with the European Union’s tougher limits on carbon-dioxide emissions.

The pooling agreement, which allows companies to count their fleets as one, will help VW toward its goal of adhering to EU rules without paying fines, according to a spokesman. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV secured a similar arrangement with Tesla Inc. last year.
