Volvo Cars Joining California Pact to Cut CO2 from Vehicles

Volvo’s U.S. cars unit plans to voluntarily reduce tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions under targets set by California regulators, the state’s top clean-air official said Tuesday.

  • Volvo Cars confirmed it would join voluntary agreement statement after CARB Chair Mary Nichols told reporters of company plan
    • It would join Ford, Honda, BMW and VW in deal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions more than under federal rules weakened by the Trump administration
  • Volvo said a ‘‘nationwide agreement that is consistent with Volvo Cars global electrification strategy and our goal to be climate neutral by 2040 has not happened”
