A proposed settlement between Vistra Energy Corp. and environmental groups furthers the Illinois goal of eliminating the use of coal plants in the state by 2050.
The proposed consent decree, announced Sept. 16, would resolve a 2013 civil lawsuit asserting federal Clean Air Act violations against the plant’s operator, Illinois Power Resources Generating LLC, by several environmental and health groups.
