Virginia Governor Wants to Join Regional Greenhouse Gas Pact (1)

Making Virginia a member of a multistate carbon emissions trading market is among Gov. Ralph Northam’s 2020 legislative priorities.

Northam (D) told participants at a Dec. 11 event that his upcoming budget plan will include language striking a ban enacted earlier this year on Virginia becoming a participant in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. That move is among a number of initiatives and investments in clean energy and environmental protections that the governor said he would push next year.
