Vermont House Approves Measure Setting Restrictions on Flame Retardants

BOSTON—The Vermont House approved a bill (S. 81) May 8 to restrict levels of two types of chlorinated tris flame retardants in household items and children’s products, a bill proponents call the toughest flame retardant legislation in the nation.

The Senate passed its version of the bill March 29 (37 CRR 418, 4/8/13).

The House adopted an amendment in the form of a substitution and passed the bill unanimously. The legislation now goes back to the Senate, which is expected to accept the changes, Rep. Jill Krowinski (D) told BNA.
