Utah voters weren’t open to a bump in the state’s gas tax to fund roads and schools.
Voters said no by a vote of 66 percent to 34 percent to a nonbinding question from the Utah Legislature as to whether state motor and special fuel tax rates should be increased by an equivalent of 10 cents per gallon.
The current rate is 29.4 cents per gallon, set to rise to 30 cents a gallon Jan. 1, according to the Utah State Tax Commission.
