DENVER—Utah filed a lawsuit Nov. 14 against the federal government to settle ownership rights on roads in Garfield County, including those within Grand Staircase-Canyons of the Escalante National Monument (Utah v. United States).
The filing comes four days after the state lodged a similar complaint against the federal government over public highway rights-of-way in Kane County (Utah v. United States).
Both lawsuits, which were filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, address local rights-of-way on federal lands under revised statute 2477 (R.S. 2477).
