A federal agency charged with improving the federal permitting process announced a $15 million investment for a new program that lets agencies quickly tap into a pool of qualified permitting staff as needed.
The program’s specifics haven’t yet been defined, but when it’s up and running, agencies will be able to hire third-party support “without having to go through the complicated procurement process” when a short-term permitting need arises, Eric Beightel, executive director of the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council, said in an interview Tuesday.
